NIGERIA MUST BE BETTER...

Nigeria Must be Better ...

April 22, 2012 at 10:55pm
Chain of events, overlooking the unnecessary which is necessary.
Every change or event is sparked by a word, a stand, an emotion, or in general an act... Was told a story today by Fela Durotoye and was moved and I have a push on the inside to share, Fela is a Man I wish our rulers can have a little of his foresight about what he see's as the future of Nigeria and as a Nigerian, I align myself with his vision and in his mission to stir a positive reaction that would lead to a reversal of the mentality we all have of our Country.
The story: A man was driving along Lagos - Ibadan express way and due to portholes he was trying to swerve from, his car somersaulted in the process; this is not just an accident that occured to maybe an average man, no, it happened to a very wealthy man. He was rushed to the nearest hospital by the road side and behold the hospital was medically empty from supplies and due to that, no treatment could be administered and he died.

Back to the wealthy man, it could be that he drives through that road often and he see's the cottage hospital along the road and pities those who get medical treatment there, since he has a personal doctor in London who is on his speed dial and who takes care of him and his family. The reason for his death is not because he had an accident, No, the reason for his death is because of the poor state of medical supplies in the hospital.
Now lets use our imagination and watch the how the story could have changed if the so called wealthy man stops on one of his trips and ask the doctors there what they need to effectively and efficiently manage medical emergencies, that is listen and solve the problems they have not as temporal but continous because he feels bad that with his wealth and the fact that he has travelled far and wide, it is disheartening to see such a hospital in his dear country. If he had done that and unfortunately the accident occurred will he be dead now or alive??? Ponder on that.

The way most Nigerian live there life's is like, I and my family alone, go to hell the rest but is that wise??? When emergency occur will you call your foreign doctor to come over or will u be rushed to the nearest hospital and woe to you if you acted as if you can never be taken to that kind of a place, I am sorry to say but ''O' death where is thy sting'' will be asked all because the hospital was ill equiped. Every Nigerian has a role to play no matter how small, playing the role consistently will attract attention and with attention the mindset of people will be changed and a little act has stired a change of multiple mindset into positive act and reaction.

In my country we always complain of the problem we have, but I got illumination into the fact that Problem creates wealth where their is solution because when problem arises and solution is brought forth that creates value being that the solution is ''valued'' and with that wealth is created which inturn leads to prosperity for a nation; every problem is a potential time bomb for prosperity but where their is no solution, value is not created and wealth is nowhere but unfortunately prosperity turns into poverty. Does this illustration make you feel that Nigeria and Nigerians suffer from this plot??? I felt that way and I made a personal decision to look out for problems and profer solutions in other to prosper. We are a great nation with a great people but unfortunately we are scared to stand alone in other to lead the train for change, well I am here to tell you that millions out there are awaiting for you to take a step and with that a million people will take a step too and that leads to a million and one step.

Unfortunately our educational system is almost dead but does that mean those who have the money should send their kids abroad for the best education only for them to come back and take the best jobs??? No I say because the right thing is to stand and say Nigeria education system must be revived because if their kids go abroad to get the best and come back getting the best jobs, those kids that could not get the best education at home or abroad will rob and kill those who could afford the best. But there is hope and the hope is in everyone making sure that Nigeria gives the best and Nigerians get the best in Nigeria and how do we achieve these??? It is to be united in our goal, trust me when we have one voice, one mind, not shadowed by religion, ethnicity or what have you we will succeed and we shall be heard Genesis 11:3-6 it explains what happens when people have just one mind and purpose. Let us all have one purpose to make Nigeria better than what our parents left for us and to leave a better Nigeria for our children born and unborn.

I believe in this Country and in the people, knowing fully well that were all born here for a reason to build a better Nigeria that will reclaim its position amongst the committee of Nations. I was surprised when Fela durotoye said 40yrs ago his parent travelled from canada to come to Nigeria in other for him to be born at the University Teaching Hospital in Ibadan which was the premier hospital in the whole of Africa. He went further to say then the $3 was 1naira and 89 kobo was £1... We can still get back our lost glory and to begin we have to start by changing our mind set.

Little things matter, don't lither the environment, obey traffic rules and light, be puntual cos the time is universal and there is nothing like Nigeria time etc.

On a later date a memoradum shall be raised for our education sector to be cleaned up and free of corruption, giving the best which is the first step of ending corruption because if those coming out of schools are taught well and have an incorruptible mindset then our success as a nation has begun. The electronic document will be signed by over a million Nigeria on the urgent need for the government to cleanse and fund our educational sector to get the best. Hope to get your signature.

I am a Nigerian and I am tired of this Nigeria but I choose to stay and make it a better Nigeria than the one my parents left, with the help of you and I we shall overcome, so help us God.
